Terms of Service
for the use of the scryp platform
1. Scope
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern the use of the scryp platform (the "Platform"), operated by Gökhan Sagir, Erdbergstraße 121/9, 1030 Vienna, Austria (the "Provider"). By registering and subscribing, the user accepts these Terms.
2. Description of services
The Platform provides AI-assisted audio and video transcription with client-side encryption. All user content is encrypted in the browser and stored on our servers exclusively in encrypted form. Use requires a paid subscription.
The exact scope of features and the applicable costs depend on the plan chosen by the user. The description of services and price list shown on the pricing page at the time the contract is concluded is authoritative. The Provider may continue to develop and improve the feature set; material restrictions of existing features will be announced with reasonable notice.
3. Registration, account & subscription
Use of the Platform requires registration with a valid email address and a paid subscription. There is no free plan. The user must provide accurate information and keep their credentials confidential.
Note on encryption: Your password is the basis for deriving your encryption key (Master Encryption Key). If the password is lost without a prior backup, encrypted content cannot technically be recovered. A password reset irrevocably deletes all stored transcripts and audio files.
4. Free trial
For all paid plans the Provider offers a free 14-day trial. During the trial all features of the chosen plan are available without restriction.
A payment method is stored at registration. If the subscription is not cancelled before the trial ends, the paid subscription begins automatically at the regular price of the chosen plan and billing period.
Cancellation during the trial is possible at any time via the Stripe customer portal. If cancelled within the trial, no amount is charged and access remains until the end of the 14 days.
5. Encryption & data sovereignty
All content (audio files, transcripts, file names) is encrypted client-side in the user's browser using AES-256-GCM before being transmitted to our servers, and is stored permanently in encrypted form only. Without the user's decryption key, stored content is not readable by the Provider.
For AI-assisted transcription the audio file is temporarily decrypted in memory (RAM). After processing, all temporary data including the decryption key is securely deleted.
AI transcription is performed exclusively on our own infrastructure in Austria. Encrypted data storage is provided by a certified hosting provider in Germany (EU). No data is transmitted to third-party AI services.
6. Prices & payment
Current prices are available on the pricing page. All prices include statutory VAT where applicable.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, the user authorises Stripe to recurrently charge the stored payment method for the chosen billing period (monthly or yearly).
For yearly billing the total amount for 12 months is charged in advance. The billing cycle begins on the day the subscription is concluded or after the trial ends.
7. Term & cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically for the respective billing period (monthly or yearly) unless cancelled before the end of the period.
Cancellation is possible at any time via the Stripe customer portal or by email to support@scryp.at. After cancellation, access remains active until the end of the paid period.
After a subscription ends, existing content remains available in the dashboard for a further 90 days. During this period the user can continue to view, edit, export and share stored transcripts and reactivate the subscription. New uploads and new transcriptions are not possible during this retention period. After 90 days the stored product data is irrevocably deleted unless the account is reactivated or deleted by the user beforehand.
8. Right of withdrawal for consumers
8.1 Withdrawal instructions
Consumers generally have the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving reasons (§ 11 Austrian FAGG). The withdrawal period begins on the day the contract is concluded.
Withdrawal may be declared informally, e.g. by email to support@scryp.at. Sending the declaration in good time is sufficient to meet the deadline.
8.2 Free trial
All plans begin with a 14-day free trial. This also covers the statutory withdrawal period: both periods begin when the contract is concluded and end after 14 days. During this time you can try the service without obligation and cancel free of charge at any time.
8.3 No renewed right of withdrawal after the trial
After the trial ends and automatically converts into a paid subscription, there is no renewed right of withdrawal, as the trial has already served the purpose of the withdrawal right - assessing the product (CJEU C‑565/22). This also applies to a renewed conclusion after a previous cancellation or account deletion if the user has already used a trial before.
8.4 Refunds
Outside of a valid withdrawal within the trial, we do not offer refunds for the current billing period. Significant computing power (GPU servers) is consumed for each transcription and cannot be undone. Each subscription can be cancelled at any time effective at the end of the paid period.
8.5 Model withdrawal form
Pursuant to FAGG Annex 1 Part B we provide the following model withdrawal form. Its use is not mandatory - you may also declare withdrawal informally.
Model withdrawal form

I/we (*) hereby withdraw from the contract concluded by me/us (*) for the provision of the following service: scryp subscription (plan: _______)
Ordered on (*) / received on (*):
Name of consumer(s):
Address of consumer(s):
Date, signature of consumer(s) (only if notified on paper)
(*) Delete as appropriate
9. Acceptable use
The user undertakes to:
- not use the Platform for unlawful purposes,
- not upload content that violates applicable law,
- not perform automated access or scraping activities,
- not intentionally overload or disrupt the technical infrastructure,
- not pass on the account to third parties or share credentials.
In the event of violations, the Provider reserves the right to restrict access to the Platform or suspend the account. In the event of serious violations, the subscription may be terminated without notice.
10. Availability & liability
Availability: The Provider endeavours to keep the Platform available as uninterrupted as possible but does not guarantee continuous availability. Maintenance is announced where possible.
AI-assisted transcription: scryp uses AI-based speech recognition to transcribe audio and video content. The user acknowledges that AI-generated transcripts may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions. The Platform serves solely as an assistance system. Reviewing the content and final responsibility for the accuracy of the transcripts - in particular for medical, legal or safety-critical use - rests entirely with the user. Liability of the Provider for damages resulting from content errors in the generated transcripts is excluded to the extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability: The Provider's liability is - to the extent permitted by law - limited to cases of intent and gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence, indirect damages, lost profits and data loss is excluded. Towards consumers, this exclusion for slight negligence does not apply to personal injury. The Provider's total liability is - to the extent permitted by law - limited to the subscription fees paid by the user in the 12 months prior to the event causing the damage.
Note on the encryption architecture: All user content is encrypted client-side and stored permanently in encrypted form only. The Provider does not hold the user's decryption keys and cannot recover permanently stored content in plaintext. If the password is lost without a prior backup, recovery is technically impossible for the Provider. Liability for the associated data loss is excluded.
11. Intellectual property
All rights to the Platform, including software, design, trademarks and content, remain with the Provider. The user receives a simple, non-transferable right of use for the duration of the contractual relationship.
Content uploaded by the user and transcripts created remain the full property of the user. The Provider acquires no rights to the content and does not use it for training, analysis or any other purposes.
12. Data protection
Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG).
13. Changes to these Terms
The Provider may amend these Terms with reasonable notice. Registered users will be informed of material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
If the user does not agree to the amended Terms, they have a special right of cancellation: they may cancel the subscription before the change takes effect, effective at the end of the current billing period. Continued use of the Platform after the amended Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the changes.
14. Final provisions
Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The place of jurisdiction is - to the extent permitted by law - Vienna, Austria. For consumers, the mandatory provisions of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (in particular § 14 KSchG on jurisdiction) apply.
Should individual provisions of these Terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a provision that comes closest to the economic purpose of the invalid one.
